Jane Muir Sellery, M.A., M.Ed.
Professional Genealogist | Salisbury, Litchfield County, Connecticut, USA
I am a genealogist in private practice with over ten years of professional experience. I am the editor of the journal Connecticut Ancestry and the current Recording Secretary and former Vice President and Program Chair of the Connecticut Professional Genealogists Council.
I thrive at the intersection of the arts and sciences and the historic and the modern. After an undergraduate education in the United States and France that included archival research and data analysis, I pursued doctoral studies in psychology, teaching, researching, and providing mental health services. I have advanced certificates in family therapy from the Ackerman Institute for the Family and in genealogical research from Boston University.
Let me assist you in being the caretaker of your family’s legacy, ensuring that the knowledge we uncover continues to grow and flourish for generations to come.

Methodology
At Deep Roots Research, our methods are grounded in trusted historical sources. We carefully select our sources to ensure that every detail we uncover about your lineage is backed by solid, verifiable information.
We draw from a vast array of resources, including:
Digital Databases
Maximizing reach while minimizing time and expense, we trace your family’s branches through modern platforms that connect to historical documents worldwide.

Historical Archives
Although records are increasingly digitized and available online, it is possible that the record you need is only available in a physical archive. We dig deep into select historical archives to find your missing piece of the puzzle.
DNA
Where written records leave gaps or identities are unknown, we tap into DNA, using genetic genealogy to fill in those missing pieces.

Results
When we present our findings, they are more than just names on a page—they are branches of your family tree brought to life. Each new discovery is another connection to your ancestors, a reflection of the lineage that has shaped who you are today. Our deliverables include:
Comprehensive Family Trees
We craft detailed family trees that visually illustrate the interwoven branches of your lineage, mapping out connections across generations.
Research Reports
We compile our findings into a cohesive report that clearly delineates the research question and the steps that were taken to find the answers.
Ancestral Profiles
Delve deep into the lives of your ancestors with rich biographical profiles that bring their stories to life.
